Polly O'Brien Morrow
Copyediting, Writing and Proofreading
Polly O'Brien Morrow has been involved in freelance proofreading, editing and writing services for more than 20 years.

Her talents in this area first became apparent during high school and college, when friends frequently asked her to proofread and edit their papers.  She frequently proofread and edited the school newspaper and yearbook for Stamford Catholic High School and Wells College.

During high school, she pursued her passion for marine biology, ecology and environmental science by volunteering at the Long Island Sound Taskforce of the Oceanic Society.  This eventually led to full-time employment with the organization.  Polly frequently helped edit newsletters, annual reports and other publications for both the Taskforce and the Oceanic Society.

After graduating from Wells College with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology in 1985, Polly worked for a small investor relations firm based in Stamford called Redington Inc. and its sister company, SlideWorks.  Redington Inc. specialized in supporting biotechnology firms such as Amgen, and SlideWorks developed graphic presentations for a wide variety of clients.  During her tenure at Redington, Polly regularly proofread all materials before they were sent to the client.

In 1986, Polly decided to pursue an interest in the legal profession and took a position in the Pitney Bowes Legal Department to learn more.  Polly earned a Paralegal Degree from the University of Bridgeport School of Law.  She enjoyed working for Pitney Bowes very much, and was particularly impressed with the company's corporate citizenship activities, especially its philanthropic and volunteer initiatives.  To build her skills, she earned her Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Connecticut.  She is presently responsible for managing the company's philanthropic programs.

In 1986, Polly also began her freelance proofreading and editing business.  Polly's first proofreading job was working the evening shift at Stamford Typesetting Corp.  She then freelanced for the Connecticut-based advertising and creative firm The Atlantic Group, whose clients included ABB, Olin Corporation, Perkin-Elmer's Worldwide Analytical Instrumentation Division, The Perrier Group, Stamford Health System, Zotos International, and a wide variety of other firms.  She also worked with Greenwich-based Filigree Press and supported Lawrence J. Pugliese in writing his book, Do Sports Not Drugs.  Throughout her freelance career, Polly has proofread and edited a wide variety of published materials, including advertisements, annual reports, books, brochures, data sheets, newsletters, presentations, speeches, and web pages.

Polly's freelance career took a hiatus when she met and married Robert and had their two daughters, Kristin and Kaitlyn.  Since Kaitlyn began sleeping through the night, Polly relaunched her freelance business.  Recent clients have included The Nam Hai, American Friends of Sheba Medical Center, SBWEventsGroup, and bfoxinc.  Polly welcomes the opportunity to support your proofreading and editing needs.
